The Paul Green Guide for white sneakers

Preventing dirt

In order to ensure that your new sneakers don't pick up dust and dirt from the street, you should waterproof them thoroughly before first wear. Spray your shoes with a suitable waterproofing spray from a distance of 20 cm and allow them to dry properly. You should repeat this procedure at regular intervals, ensuring that your shoes have first been cleaned.

Regular cleaning

As white is particularly susceptible to long-term discoloration, we recommend removing any coarse dirt from your shoes as soon as you take them off. This is best done with a shoe brush or a liquid sneaker cleanser. Stubborn dirt that is not removed from the leather and sole can lead to unsightly discoloration over time.

Freshening up white soles

The first signs of discoloration usually appear on the white soles in the form of marks and black stains. You can remove coarse dirt with a brush, while more ingrained areas will require a dirt eraser from the drugstore. Simply wet this sponge-like eraser and apply to the discolored areas of the sole.

Don't forget the laces

Clean laces play a bigger part in the overall look of your shoes than you might think. So that you don't have to replace them every time they get a little dirty, simply pop the laces in a wash bag along with your whites and wash them in the washing machine. The sneakers themselves should not be put in the washing machine, however, as the heat, water and laundry detergent can weaken the leather and the glued areas of your shoes.

Our tip:

Be careful of home remedies: Window cleaning agents, baking powder and the like can dry out the leather on your shoes or otherwise ruin it. We therefore recommend only using specially developed shoe care products on your sneakers.
